When youвЂ™re done with that journal you might want to scan the other journals on the library shelf and pick up another one to look through. BrowZine is the digital version of going to your academic library, picking up a journal you like, scanning the table of contents, and reading an article or three. The idea is that, if you like a particular journal article, thereвЂ™s a good chance that youвЂ™ll want to peruse other articles in that issue of the journal. Enter Browzine.Д«rowZine touts itself as a вЂњjournal engagement platform.вЂќ BrowZine is web-based desktop/laptop/mobile service that lets you view journal articles in the context of the entire journal and in the context of journals in similar subjects. But, IвЂ™ll argue that thereвЂ™s great value in using tools that were designed for browsing. And, best of all, thereвЂ™s the thrill when serendipity brings us to an unexpected discovery! Yes, we do browse via Google when we do broad searches and scan the search results. Browsing is great when we find something we like and we wonder what similar things we might like. Browsing is great when we donвЂ™t quite know what weвЂ™re looking for but we have some idea. We all browse, if not in libraries then in bookstores, department stores, gift shops, and more places. Before Google and the other popular search engines I remember browsing in libraries. If donated materials are determined to be outside the scope of the collection, these materials may be offered to non-profit organizations who distribute medical books to hospitals and libraries throughout the developing world.In a world of Google we are all used to finding via searching. Items that are added to the collection will appear in the library's online catalog. Upon receipt of your gift, with the signed Deed of Gift, you will receive an acknowledgement letter. Donors requiring appraisals for income tax purposes must obtain these at their own expense from appraisers of their choice prior to donation. Once the deed is signed, the gift then becomes the property of the library.Д«ecause of restrictions by the Internal Revenue Service, library staff cannot provide an evaluation or appraisal for tax purposes. Please complete these Deed of GiftВ and include it with your donation. Since more than 95% of the libraryвЂ™s journal subscriptions are now available online, the Library will no longer accept donations of volumes and/or issues of print journals. Send this list to Maria Flowers Brooks ( in Collection Services. Please submit a list of potential gift materials to assist in making a decision about your donation. The Library also welcomes rare books, and those of historical significance to the health and life sciences.

The WHSC Library also subscribes to Nature Masterclasses,В which has 13 modules about how to select a journal. By performing a search on a topic, both Web of ScienceВ and Scopus allow for sorting by the number of times a topic has been published in journals.ДЇor assistance with using Web of Science or Scopus, please contact Ask a Librarian.
